the poor image of valenciennes

Workshop with the Valenciennes Tourism Office

To go from 13 pre-concepts to 3 pre-concepts

Throughout the project, we organized workshops with the tourist office to create a project that truly reflects the city of Valenciennes.

3 pre-concepts

Au fils du temps

Take a tour of the town, following the stories of historical figures from Valenciennes.

Creativita

A strong artistic direction with the symbol of Valenciennes, the swan. Collaborative exhibitions.

alternative visite

Take a photo tour of the city to create your own map and keep it as a souvenir.

We chose to keep elements of each for our final concept

la valee des cygnes

La Vallée des Cygnes is an alternative way to visit the city, with themed routes designed to help visitors discover the city from different angles.

The name is inspired by the legend of Valenciennes, historically known as "Val en cygne".

my work

the web application

During this phase, I developed the application that guides tourists through the different routes on offer, as well as informing them about the various points of interest.

my work

the web application

Choice of the route

The map of the city

Pop up with information

We chose the webapp because it's less expensive for the city and also because tourists don't need to download an application.

my work

the design system/ accessibility

Accessibility for physical disabled persons

For the choice of the colors, we took into account the color blindness so that each tourist can benefit from the device.

Signage element

The system has been designed to be easy to install and remove. The city can easily modify a route.

Steel fixation

Modeling and tests

Being on site, we decided to test our solution with the public.

We tested shapes to see what would be best suited to our solution, but also easy to produce and more adaptable to poles and life in the city.

We tested our routes around the city to see where we could place our node points to indicate the different routes correctly.

And to see if the selected itineraries were suited to the various themes we had identified.

So we asked these people to give us their opinion, so that we could make any necessary improvements.

We noticed that people were curious and came forward to see, and the QR code linking to the webapp was scanned several times.

the Reel

At the start of the project, we noticed that the tourist office had very little presence on social networks (only on FaceBook and not on a regular basis).

We've created various graphic elements that can be used by tourists to promote their trip to Valenciennes, as well as by the tourist office to promote their events.

We also thought about inviting influencers to test tourism in Valenciennes and share their experience on their social networks, as we know that many people today are looking for recommendations on social networks.

Communication

Workshop with the Valenciennes Tourism Office To validate the concept

Building different themed routes

Quicker version to set up

We've come up with a simpler version.

Instead of knotted stitches, we can use vinyl stickers.

With this version, the city can test the desirability of the concept.
